ZOHD Dart XL

Am I ready for a test fly?

…after over 40 yrs of RC Model flying ‘everything’ that flies I thought I would try out my own FPV/iNAV, lets see what happens …You see I have to rely on an electronic flight control to do some of the flight if I was using my own fingers it would be a piece of cake as it’s quite a steep learning curve with the setup as it just wont work out of the box. Finally all is ready for the first flight!! – with the Zohd Dart XL & Radiomaster TX16S and a H743-WING V2 controller, Front & Back FV cameras & a GoPro!!

The plane is an unusual-looking model with a chunky square nose with forward-swept wings that look like something from StarWars , a pre-installed motor, ESC, Servos; Specifications. Material: Biodegradable BEPP (It’s Green!). Wingspan: 1000mm (39.37”) Length: 596mm (23.4”) Motor: 2216-1300KV. ESC: 40A w/5V 3A BEC. Servos: 9g metal gear. Prop: 9*4.5. Wing area: 19.8dm². Wing load: 60.6g/dm² (Max.) Recommends a 4S 3300mAh battery. It’s built-in under 5 mins as it needs no glue, but the electronics soldering, wiring & set up may be another week!

So its now ready to give it it’s first outing maybe ‘just’ as a glider to start with on the slope to trim it out then later with the prop attached then try auto-launch mode! …. I will be back with more later – fingers crossed 🙂
